Rumour: Barcelona's Neymar to consider Manchester United move

Will Neymar ever leave Barcelona?

Barcelona’s prolific attacker Neymar has been viewed as a realistic target by Manchester United reports the Guardian, and it has been said that the player is interested in leaving his current employers although the chances of a transfer in this summer transfer window are highly unlikely.

The Brazilian forward enjoyed a spectacular 2014/15 season with the Catalan outfit (his second for the club) and finished as the top scorer in UEFA Champions League with 10 goals. One of the key figures of Barca’s unstoppable trident MSN alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, the trio bagged up an incredible 122 goals across all competitions.

Neymar was also prolific in the domestic league as he netted 22 times for the La Liga champions and 7 more in the Copa Del Rey which inspired Barca to a historic second treble last season.

And United have recognised the 23-year-old as a solution to their attacking problems as Ed Woodward is reportedly interested to land the World Cup 2014 star at Old Trafford before September begins. The club officials are intending to elongate their pursue and there are long-term plans in place to get convince the Brazil international to come to the Premier League next summer.

Neymar’s contract expires in 2018

The 23-year-old would consider joining, according to sources close to the forward. He is attracted by the size and history of the 20-time champions and the chance to play in the England.

There are three more years left in the Brazilian’s contract and although he has endured a successful campaign under manager Luis Enrique last season which leaves no room for him to move to new pastures, United still believe that they can work out something lucrative to tempt him out of Spain.

Chairman Ed Woodward was in Spain last week to work out a deal for winger Pedro with Barca. But after the Spaniard chose Chelsea over United, it has been speculated that he was there to continue the audacious bid to land Neymar. As his contract expires in 2018, chances of this United interest being a ploy for Neymar to work out a better offer with the La Liga giants is very much likely and United should be aware of that fact.

United are definitely on the lookout for a marquee player to adress their attacking problems. With Chelsea seizing Pedro, it has been reported that they have turned their attention to Atletico Madrid’s star forward Antoine Greizmann.
