Reports: Barcelona to announce they’ve agreed a deal with Liverpool today over Luis Suarez

Barcelona are set to announce today that they have agreed a deal with Liverpool for the signing of Luis Suarez, having negotiated a huge £12 million discount as part of the package, report the Express.

The Catalan club could announce today that they have agreed a £58 million deal to capture the Uruguayan hit man.

A series of reports in Spain have suggested that the agreement is for a straight cash deal, and there will not be any players heading to Anfield as a part exchange. This comes after significant rumours that Alexis Sanchez could move in that manner, although he now seems almost certain to join Arsenal instead.

Suarez reportedly had a buy-out fee for foreign clubs of £70 million, but the infamous bite incident involving Giorgio Chiellini has allowed Barcelona to negotiate a significant discount on that price. Suarez was subsequently banned from all football related activities for four months.

It has been suggested that Suarez has stayed in Uruguay after the World Cup, believing that he will be making a move to Barcelona before the new season.
