Bayern Munich sign Sebastian Rode from Eintracht Frankfurt

Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of midfielder Sebastian Rode from Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The 23-year old German has been playing for Eintracht Frankfurt since the 2010-11 season and has made 108 appearances for the club during which he has netted 4 times.

Rode hasn’t played since picking up a knee injury in Frankfurt’s 0-0 draw with Werder Bremen on February 23.

“I’m really happy that this transfer has been completed,” Rode told the official Bayern website.

“Bayern is the next big step for me,” he added. “I want to develop here and win a lot of titles with my future team-mates.”

“Sebastian Rode is an excellent professional, he embodies the highest level of professionalism and dynamism,” sporting director Matthias Sammer said.”I’m sure he will give our team a lot of momentum and pep to tackle future challenges.”

The arrival of Rode could pave way for the exit of Toni Kroos whose contract runs out in the summer of 2015. Kroos hasn’t penned a new deal yet and is believed to be looking for higher wages failing which he is expected to move to the Premier League or La Liga.
