Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery is set to miss the Champions League last-16 first leg clash against Arsenal, after successfully undergoing a surgery. The Frenchman has been ruled out for several matches.

Last Thursday, Ribery had undergone a surgery to get a blood vessel repaired in his buttock , and has been described as doing good, but he will not return in time to travel to the Emirates Stadium for the February 19 clash.

The Frenchman underwent an examination at Bayern on Monday where club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt has informed the club that he has been recovering well after the surgery.

Bayern are hoping that Ribery starts movement therapy by the end of this week, and then he begins his individual training a week later.

“Therefore Ribery will miss the next games of the record champion, among them the round last 16 tie in the Champions League at Arsenal,” a statement on the club’s official website read.
