Beckham makes a fool of himself after backing AC Milan for Champions league victory

Beckham makes a fool of himself after backing AC Milan for Champions league victory.

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid star David Beckham needs to catch up on European football after backing former club, AC Milan, to win the Champions League even though the team is not in the competition, according to Daily Star. Beckham made the silly comment in the opening of his new Adidas store at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai.

AC Milan were ineligible to participate in the competition this season as they finished 10th in the Serie A last season. The footballer clearly had good intentions when he backed his former employers, but should have been more careful with his words as they made him look silly.

While speaking to the press, he said: "Who do I want to win is a different story to who I think is going to win... or maybe it's not actually! I'm going to have to say Man Utd, PSG or AC Milan. One of those three I'd like to see win, but when you're in the Champions League, you realize how important this competition is. It's one of the best competitions to actually play in and definitely to win."

Beckham enjoys watching youngsters Morata, Verratti, and Neymar play

When Beckham, who has won the Champions League once with Manchester United, was asked who he enjoyed watching the most in the Champions League, he said: "Apart from the normal suspects, you know, I'm going to have to say Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

"I think [Alvaro] Morata is an exciting player and [Marco] Verratti for PSG. I played with him, he's such a great, talented player. And, of course, Neymar. I think there are so many great players out there, but to pick a few, I'd have to say them. On the England side, I think I'd have to say Wazza [Rooney]. Wayne is playing so well for United and he's had a good start to the season so we'll see."

During the course of Beckham’s illustrious career he has won several trophies in all the clubs he has played at. While majority of his success came at Manchester United, he also had a few trophies in the other tournaments. He won six Premier League, two FA Cups, and one Champions League winners medal at Old Trafford. In Real Madrid though all he managed to win was one La Liga title and one Supercopa de Espana.

While he faced a trophy-barren spell at AC Milan, he ended his career on a high after winning the Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain.
