Carlo Ancelotti says Cristiano Ronaldo will finish his career at Real Madrid

Ancelotti coached Ronaldo for two seasons at the Bernabeu

According to former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, Cristiano Ronaldo will not move to Paris Saint-Germain next season. Ancelotti managed PSG before moving to Real Madrid, where he helped the club win La Decima – their 10th Champions League crown. But his stint with the club ended on a rather sad note when he was sacked by the club after a trophyless season.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who turned 30 this year, was subject of a £110 million (€150m) bid from the French champions, as reported by Globo Esporte. He was linked with a move to PSG all summer long, but the hunger to become greatest ever goal scorer for Real Madrid might have influenced him to stay.

The Portuguese superstar equalled Raul’s goal scoring record of 323 goals for Real Madrid and he also surpassed Raul’s record of maximum goals in La Liga for Real, when he scored 5 against Espanyol. He even broke a few records in the Champions League.

When quizzed by Le Parisien on Ronaldo’s future, Ancelotti said, “I don't know, Last week he created history at Real Madrid by levelling Raul's record. I don't see Cristiano Ronaldo changing club. I think he'll finish his career at Real Madrid where everyone likes him.”

Ancelotti not looking to work this season, wants to rest

The former PSG coach was speaking from London where he received the Inspiring Leader Award on Tuesday and he also reacted to rumours linking him with Liverpool.

He said, “I enjoy my time now but, of course, I want to come back to manage, to work, because it is my passion. I want to take my time to rest, but next season I am ready."

Ancelotti led PSG to their first Ligue 1 title in almost 20 years and credits Zlatan Ibrahimovic to infuse a winning mentality into the club. He also talked about his relationship with PSG’s President Nasser al-Khelaifi and admitted that he did had some problems with the president, but no longer.

“We had problems at the end of the 2012/13 season. But it's like anything in life: time, I feel better. The weather clears and problems belong to the past,” he said.

When asked if he will return to PSG one day, the Italian said, “Why not? I have a very good memory of Paris, of PSG.

“I have good relations with everyone, with Nasser. But I'm thinking about something else and then PSG have a very good manager in Laurent Blanc. I hope he can continue and will shine in the Champions League.”
