Racing Club and River Plate are cosidered to be two of the oldest clubs in Argentina and which are also the two members of the ‘big five’ in the country.
River Plate had a good start to the season and had a commanding lead over Racing Club at one stage, but two losses and two defeats in their last four games have seen Racing catch up with them. Racing Club de Avellaneda surpassed River Plate for the top spot with a 1-0 win on Sunday. Racing are now on 35 points while River are tied for the 2nd spot with 33.
