Celtic FC responded to a six-year old’s request to be manager with a letter and a gift.

We’ve seen many young managers in football, but not someone as young as this!

Six-year-old Aiden Headridge boy from Dundee wrote to Celtic FC in the hope of being considered for the post of manager of the club.

Neil Lennon had resigned as Celtic coach in May and the club had replaced him with Ronny Deila. While not many clubs would have given the request a second thought, the club’s chief executive Peter Lawwell was kind enough to respond to the eager young boy.

In a letter addressed to Aiden, he says: “Thank you for th eletter and for taking time to write to me. I was very pleased to receive your letter.

“As you will now know, we have appointed Ronny Deila as the new football manager. I believe Ronny has the knowledge, enthusiasm and confidence that is necessary to take the club forward and deliver continued success.

"I am very excited about this new phase in the club's history, and I hope that you and your family are too. I was really pleased to learn that you would like to be the Celtic manager and maybe one day that will happen.

"In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying school and are looking forward to the summer holidays."

“Thanks again for taking the time to write Aiden, I’ve enclosed a small gift which I hope you will like.”

The gift was a Celtic FC t-shirt – just the right size for a six-year old.

Top class stuff from Celtic FC. Well done!
