Cesc Fabregas says he would love it if Barcelona's Lionel Messi joins him at Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas has said that he would love for his friend and former teammate Lionel Messi to join Chelsea

Chelsea’s midfield dynamo Cesc Fabregas has said that he would love it if his close friend and former teammate Lionel Messi joined Chelsea.

The midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer, has been brilliant for the Londoners this season, as he has helped them dominate their opponents on their way to the top of the Premier League. They have also qualified for the knock-out rounds of the Champions League without breaking a sweat as they won four out of their six games in the group stages.

Fabregas and Messi were teammates in the Barcelona youth team, before the Spaniard moved to England to play for Arsenal. The pair was reunited when Fabregas moved to Barcelona in 2011, but then he again moved back to England this summer as he signed for Chelsea.

The central midfielder hopes that the Argentine, who buy-out clause is said to be an outrageous £200 million, would one day join him at Chelsea, saying, “I wish! Why not? I'd love that to happen. I'd be all for it. As a Barca man, I believe that Messi deserves to retire there for all that he has given the club.

"He is a legend that has changed Barca's history. But, as his team-mate and friend, without doubt I'd love to have Leo by my side,” he told Radio Marca.

He also said that Lionel Messi had been the single most important player for Barcelona this season, saying that they have been like a one-man team this season. The Spanish midfielder said, "This season Barca are Messi and 10 others. Messi has saved his team on many occasions."
