CFL Premier Division - Super 12: East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting play out goalless draw

After seven straight wins East Bengal Club were held to a goalless draw by rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club in their CFL Premier Division – Super 12 clash at Saltlake Stadium on Thursday evening.

With this point East Bengal moved clear at the top with now 22 points from 8 matches, while Mohammedan Sporting stay third with 21 points from 10 matches and leaves the title race wide open.

In a match where both the teams had their share of opportunities East Bengal were denied a penalty when Cavin Lobo was brought down inside the box in the early stages of the match, while the woodwork denied Ryuji Sueoka whose clever placement beat the rival custodian Luis Barreto in the second half but came back into play of the post.

Sueoka’s header of a Lalrindika cross narrowly missed the mark in the opening half and Mohammedan Sporting also had their chances but couldn’t beat Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in the East Bengal goal, who had an outstanding match.
