Chelsea to rival Manchester United and Manchester City to sign Anderson Talisca

Young sensation Anderson Talisca

Chelsea are looking to land another big striker next season after signing Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid this season. The player who they are monitoring this time is Benfica sensation Anderson Talisca.

Chelsea scouts had gone to watch the youngster play in their victory against AS Monaco on Tuesday night in the Champions League. The U-21 striker scored the winner in that game. The Brazilian has 8 goals from 9 matches in the domestic league.

The player who is also being scouted by Manchester United and Manchester City has been admired by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho as well for a long time now. Chelsea currently have three strikers in their squad — Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Didier Drogba. But Drogba is 36 years old and his deal expires at the end of the season.

After Benfica got him for 3.1 million euros this summer, they inserted a £35m buy-out clause in his contract. Following his superb performances, they’re now planning to offer him a new deal and increase the clause to £47m. Chelsea have a great relationship with Benfica as they have signed 3 players Ramires, David Luiz and Nemanja Matic from them over the past four years.

The young striker, on the other hand, had this to say in his post match interview:

“I am thinking only of Benfica. I’m ready, I know I have and am able to learn a lot from this wonderful group, with supporters and with the coach. It was a great feeling for me to score and be nominated for man of the match [against Monaco]. I am only 20 and it is like a dream to play in the Champions League. Being able to score is indescribable — it was the best feeling in my life.”

Will Chelsea be able to land this young sensation from Benfica? Let's wait and find out.
