Chelsea boss Mourinho hails Ronaldo as the best player in the last two decades

Klose and Ronaldo
Germany forward Miroslav Klose took over as World Cup’s top scorer of all time replacing Ronaldo of Brazil.

Miroslav Klose might have broken the World Cup goalscoring record formerly held by retired Brazilian striker Ronaldo, but Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes the latter is still the better striker among the two.

Mourinho who is a Yahoo Global Football Ambassador and an exclusive analyst for their World Cup coverage released a video saying, "Hats off to Klose. I highly respect the numbers he has achieved but the truth is that a player who I consider the best after [Diego] Maradona lost a record.”

He went on to call the Brazillian the best among the lot in the last twenty years. "I believe that Ronaldo was the best player of the last two decades - at least he doesn't lose the title of being the best of the past 20 years."

Klose had registered his name in the World Cup history books with his goal against Brazil, taking his tally of total goals to 16 goals in World Cup competition, making him the tournament’s leading goalscorer.

“For Miroslav to beat Ronaldo record, to beat him, in this moment, the leader of the scoring is really amazing.” Mourinho concluded.

A penalty-poacher, all of Klose’s strikes have come from inside the penalty box (watch here), with the furthest one being a goal from the penalty spot.
