Chelsea are close to sealing a move for Queens Park Rangers forward Loic Remy, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho is short on number upfront after a news broke yesterday that Fernando Torres will be leaving the club on a two-year loan deal to AC Milan. Mourinho stated yesterday that he would like to have three forwards at the close of the transfer window. Thus, it makes complete sense for the Londoners to pursue the French international.

Remy spent last season on loan at Newcastle United and was their top scorer with 14 goals. The Magpies however failed to convince him to stay on beyond August with the Frenchman eyeing European football.

His performances in the black and white of Newcastle helped him secure a place in Didier Deschamp’s 23-man French squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil earlier this summer.

The Frenchman was reportedly close to a move to Liverpool earlier during the summer but it broke down due to a reported failed medical, though reports late surfaced that the move fell through because of Remy’s wage demands rather than any medical concerns.

Fernando Torres’ move to the San Siro means that it will be a complete overhaul at the front for Chelsea with all three strikers from last year now having moved on. Samuel Eto’o joined Everton earlier this week after not getting a new contract at Chelsea. Meanwhile, Demba Ba joined Turkish powerhouse Besiktas.
