Chelsea's Oriol Romeu wants club future clarified this summer

Oriol Romeu says he will consider his future at Chelsea in June

Some people have called him "Chelsea's forgotten man" despite signing a new contract extension last summer. However, Oriol Romeu, on loan at Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, has spoken of his intentions to speak with Chelsea this summer as he feels that he needs some first team stability.

When asked of his future beyond this season he said:

“In June I’ll speak with Chelsea to know their intentions.

“After two seasons on loan, the ideal would be settling into a club to get some stability. Every player needs continuity.”

I just wonder how the club feels about Romeu. Do they genuinely feel that he will establish himself in Jose Mourinho's first team squad and onto being a regular starter or did they renew his contract with a view to selling him for at least double what Chelsea paid for him (£5m)?

He is only 23 years old and in my view the perfect foil for Nemanja Matic. He is just as comfortable on the ball as the big Serbian and has an eye for a tackle. Most people have him ahead of John Obi Mikel which is another positive to keeping him.

We have read reports that Oscar and Ramires are wanted by Juventus if Chelsea are looking to sign Paul Pogba for a whopping £74m. In addition, we are being linked with Koke of Atletico Madrid but surely with having someone like Romeu within our ranks we shouldn't need to spend big in the summer. As for reports of Jordan Henderson - for me Romeu is by far a better option!

What do you people feel about Oriol Romeu? Should Chelsea keep him and play him or do you feel he is another that will be sold to fund a move for someone else like Pogba?
