Fabregas set to fight for his place in the Chelsea XI

Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a move away from Chelsea ever since Antonio Conte took charge of the club. The Spanish International has lost his place in the start XI to new signing, N’Golo Kante.

Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte has made it clear that he prefers to play Oscar in the #10 role with Nemanja Mati and N’Golo Kanté behind him. The Spaniard was brought on as a substitute in Chelsea 2-1 win at Watford and that has been his only game for the club in the Premier League this season. Despite setting up the winner for Diego Costa with a splendid pass from his own half, Conte seems to have not been impressed enough for him to bench Oscar or Matic and afford Fabregas a spot in the starting XI.

Owing to this, the media has been linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge heavily in the past few weeks. There were even rumours that he’s been offered to Real Madrid and that the Los Blancos manager, Zidane was also ‘interested’ in signing him. Manchester United were also linked with Fabregas after Jose Mourinho took charge of at Old Trafford.

Cesc Fabregas has now taken to Twitter to clear all such rumours. He’s denied that Conte has asked him to leave the club this summer and also confirmed that he has no interest himself in leaving the club.

Here are his tweets:

Chelsea have been playing free-flowing football and have been managing to find gaps in the opposition defense even without Fabregas on the pitch. This has been a cause of concern for the midfielder as the team that was very much dependent on his 2 years ago might no longer need him on the pitch at all.

Eden Hazard has found his form again and has hit the ground running this season. He’s been providing all sort of headaches for the opposition and with Diego Costa also managing to find the back of the net, Fabregas might well be in danger of losing his spot permanently.

New Spain Manager, Julen Lopetegui has omitted Cesc Fabregas from the Spain squad for the World Cup qualifiers as he’s not featuring regularly for Chelsea while teammate, Diego Costa has been called up. Costa was not in the Spain squad for the EURO 2016 but his impressive form of scoring 2 winners and setting up an assist in the first 3 Premier league games this season.
