Reports: Former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City?

Kevin De Bruyne might end up in Manchester City next season

Kevin De Bruyne’s agent has given Manchester City hopes of signing the Belgian midfielder from VfL Wolfsburg, despite rumours suggesting the player could move to Bayern Munich for £45 million.

The player has piqued the interest of several top-level European clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, but City are looking to secure his services.

De Bruyne left Chelsea for Wolfsburg in January 2014 for £18 million, and has scored 15 goals and made 22 assists for the club this season.

He was a major part of Wolfsburg’s current squad helping them finish second in the Bundesliga and the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Although Bayern are keen on signing the player, his agent Patrick De Koster has not ruled out the option of De Bruyne returning to the Premier League by moving to the Etihad.

De Koster told The Guardian that he had met with Manchester City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain, and said: “I have met the people from Manchester City and we know each other.

“For the moment, there are no formal discussions. Of course, in the next few weeks I will going around the world to talk about the situation with Kevin but this is just informal information.

“I’ve never spoken to anyone from Manchester United but a lot of other clubs have been in touch to find out some general information.

“I think with the season Kevin has had if we didn’t have these questions then there would be something wrong. I saw Mino Raiola’s quotes about taking 20 phone calls a day regarding Paul Pogba and it’s the same situation for me and probably for the agent of Memphis Depay at the moment.”

When the agent was asked, how much the buyers would have to shell out to acquire De Bruyne’s signature, he said: “I don’t know. Wolfsburg paid €24m to Chelsea so I can see it being a lot more than that.”
