Chelsea youngster Tomas Kalas: "I really don't know what the problem is"

Tomas Kalas is out on loan to FC Koln

Tomas Kalas is a frustrated individual with life at FC Koln right now. Having been loaned there for the season with a view to playing regular first team football, Kalas finds himself out of the side.

This is the danger of loaning players out around Europe or anywhere for that matter. We all know how hard Chelsea work to find the right arrangement as it's important for a players development. Having decided that FC Koln would be perfect, it seems that the Bundesliga side have other ideas.

Speaking recently of the situation, Kalas said:

“I really don’t know what the problem is.

“Koln plays well without me and the manager doesn’t have any reasons why he should change the defenders. But I still hope I will play. If not then a change has to come. I am in touch with Chelsea, but I don’t have any exact news about my future.

“I didn’t know I wouldn’t play. The club came to England in summer and told me they would like to have me there. At first they were happy with my performances but then I didn’t play in any game. I don’t know what went wrong.

“Chelsea is also nervous and disappointed about my loan to 1 FC Koln. We will be resolving my situation in winter.

“I want to play during the next half year. It is in my interest and that of my agents and of Chelsea. We will solve it. I left Chelsea because I wanted to play regularly.

“The possibility to stay in Chelsea is very scant.”

It's being reported that Kalas has received offers from a host of clubs in England, Germany and the Netherlands so it will be interesting to see what happens in January.

I personally rate Kalas and he impressed with his performances at the end of last season, having come into the side and especially in our victory at Anfield. However, his comments about a future at Stamford Bridge are a concern.

Let's hope Kalas gets to play regular football in the second half of the season.
