Chelsea's Filipe Luis eager to move back to Atletico Madrid

Filipe Luis is reportedly unsettled in England and is keen on moving back to Spain

Filipe Luis who was relegated to Chelsea’s second choice left-back after arriving from Atletico Madrid wants to return to Madrid after only one season at Stamford Bridge. It is believed that lack of first team football coupled with feeling homesick are the reasons why the Brazilian defender wants to return to Vicente Calderon.

Spanish newspaper Marca is reporting that the Brazilian is only interested in re-joining Diego Simeone’s side and not move to any other club. The report says that the left-back has indicated to those close to him that he wants to leave Chelsea to return to his old club where he won the La Liga title and also appeared in the Champions League final.

After arriving from Atletico along with Diego Costa, Luis failed to displace Cesar Azpilicueta from the first team and had to settle for a bit part role. While Costa enjoyed a great season with the Blues, Luis was used more as a Cup player and a deputy of Azpilicueta.

It is believed that he also struggled to settle in England and would prefer to move back to Spain. The report also claims that the 29-year-old is looking for one last long term contract and feels that the Vicente Calderon is the ideal place for him.

Luis who will turn 30 on August 9 spent four years with Atletico before joining Chelsea in 2014. The Brazilian full back is currently with the Brazilian national team preparing for the Copa America.

Any move is expected to be completed only after the tournament gets over.
