The attempted kicks on Marcel Schmelzer could land the Portuguese in a lot of trouble

While Cristiano Ronaldo found his form when the defending Champions League winners travelled to Germany to face an inform Borussia Dortmund side, the Real Madrid ace could be in trouble for kicking out at Marcel Schmelzer.

In the video below, one can see Ronaldo taking a violent kick at the Dortmund full-back’s thigh, who had made a run into the penalty area to shield his defence from Ronaldo’s attacking move.

The Portuguese striker fell to the ground and was once again seen kicking the German, something that referee Mark Clattenburg did not notice. Ronaldo was fortunate to escape a booking but the 30-year-old could now face the consequences of his actions by the UEFA.

This is not the first instance where we have witnessed Ronaldo’s harsh side when on a football pitch. Ronaldo was also involved in a big incident in the same match when the ball struck his hand while defending Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s free kick outside the penalty box, which luckily went unnoticed.

Though the Portuguese star had a brilliant summer, winning the UEFA Champions League, the Euro 2016 tournament and the UEFA Player of the Year, Cristiano has been lately troubled by injuries which have affected his form. The three-time Ballon d'Or winner has also failed to find the back of the net in his last two consecutive domestic league games.

Manager Zinedine Zidane was also frustrated after conceding a late equaliser against Dortmund, repeating their trend of dropping points late, like in the La Liga game against Las Palmas.

Substitute Andre Schurrle’s rocket of a shot in the 87th minute pulled an impressive Dortmund side level for the second time in the game, denying Real Madrid from grabbing all three points, an opportunity which would have saw them top Group F for the time being.

The German’s superb goal signalled a third successive draw for the European champions, who had won 16 games in a row until drawing with Villarreal last week. Zidane’s side now host Eibar at the Santiago Bernabeu on the weekend and will have to focus on not replicating the same mistakes again.
