Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 500th and 501st goal of his career when he grabbed a brace in the 2-0 win against Swedish side Malmo FF in the Champions League. In doing so, he also set a number of records and personal milestones in the process. He is now tied with Raul as the all-time highest goalscorer in Real Madrid history with 323 goals in official matches.

While the Portuguese star has been shying away from the media for quite some time, he was more than happy to oblige on this occasion after a memorable night. But things turned sour when he was asked about Gerard Pique’s comments in June this year.

After Barcelona won the treble, Pique had taken a dig at Ronaldo claiming the 30-year-old Portuguese player’s birthday party after a 4-0 derby defeat to Atletico Madrid had unsettled Real Madrid. Colombian singer Kevin Roldan had performed at his birthday bash and Pique singled him out by saying, “We are the best team in the world! Thanks to all and thanks to Kevin Roldan, it all started with you!”

Ronaldo was visibly infuriated with the reporter. And rightly so as it had nothing to do with the game. He said: “You know why I don't speak more often? You're intelligent. You must be to have this job.

“It's because the questions aren't good! What has that got to do with today's game?

“Can't you talk about the good things that have happened? This is why I don't speak more. You want me to fall into the same trap as Pique.”

My future is at Real Madrid: Ronaldo

Ronaldo was also asked about whether he would continue his career at Real Madrid in the seasons to come. There were unconfirmed reports in the press that stated he was not happy with the club’s business in the transfer market when they sold key players like Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria in the past.

He has been constantly linked with a move back to former club Manchester United. While there were rumours of PSG trying to sign him, there were also reports of Ronaldo intending to move to the United States and play in the MLS in the future.

But Ronaldo put all such reports to bed for the time being, stating: “My future is at Madrid. I'm fine here. I want to win things here and I feel good.

“But as I've said millions of times before, nobody knows the future. We'll see what happens.”
