Cristiano Ronaldo not overly concerned about retaining Ballon d'Or

Cristiano Ronaldo during International friendly against France

Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that he isn’t too worried about winning the upcoming Ballon d’Or award again.

The 29-year-old is the current holder of the coveted prize which he won back in January this year. It was the second time he won the accolade after four years since winning the first one back in 2008.

"I'm not overly concerned with the Ballon d'Or," the Portuguese winger said. "I do not lose sleep over it."

Ronaldo was involved in the International friendly encounter against France which they lost 2-1. He was taken off in the second half and was seen applying ice on his knee following his substitution which led many to believe that he inflicted yet another knee injury.

However, the Blancos star has denied those reports confirming that it was just a precautionary measure.

"It was merely a precaution," said the 29-year-old. "After the effort of playing it is better to apply ice. It's a completely normal situation."

Portugal will return to competitive schedule as they take on Denmark in the European Championship qualifiers away on Tuesday. And the Seleccao captain is confident that they will get the right result against the Danes.

"They are a very strong opponent playing at home, but I am confident of a good result," he added.

"This Portuguese group of players is fantastic. The team spirit is good, we are full of confidence. We're on the right track. This week has been very positive."
