Cristiano Ronaldo in training

The good times are apparently here for Real Madrid. Even before the euphoria of having won the Copa del Rey final against arch rivals FC Barcelona has died down, Madrid fans have received another piece of good news with Cristiano Ronaldo returning to training yesterday.

Ronaldo has been sitting on the sidelines for four games now with a hamstring injury that he sustained during the first leg of his side’s UEFA Champion League quarter-final clash against Borussia Dortmund.

The return of the forward comes as a major boost for Real Madrid as they prepare for their clash against holders Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Ronaldo, who is the top scorer in this season’s competition with 14 goals already, will have to play and perform well if Madrid are to stop Bayern’s bid to become the first team to defend their Champions League title.

Madrid are also in contention for the La Liga title with the Los Blancos effectively just 3 points behind city rivals Atletico Madrid.

Left-back Marcelo has also returned to training and could start the midweek game against Bayern Munich.

The first leg of the semi-finals will be played on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
