First Half: Pepe scores to give Real Madrid a narrow lead

Real Madrid soon started dominating the ball and they got their breakthrough in the 41st minute when Pepe rose highest from an Isco corner to power in the header and give Real Madrid the lead.

Second half: Real Madrid go goal crazy as Ronaldo grabs 4 goals

Celta Vigo came into the second half hoping to equalise but what transpired was some brilliance from Real Madrid and Ronaldo. Ronaldo scored the first of his four goals with a stunning long-range effort from 35 yards. He added his second and Real Madrid’s third soon after scoring from a brilliantly taken free-kick.

Iago Aspas scored a goal just two minutes after Ronaldo’s second which raised hopes of a Celta fightback. However, Real Madrid soon put that thought to bed when Ronaldo grabbed his third of the night thanks to a wonderful low cross from Isco which allowed him to tap into an empty net.

Ronaldo also scored another one as he rose highest to score from a corner bringing his goal tally to 4. Ronaldo in the process broke a host of records as he became the player with the most number of hat-tricks in Spain and went past Telmo Zarra to become the second highest goal-scorer in La Liga history.

The 4 goals also took Ronaldo to the top of the goal-scoring charts.

Gareth Bale and Jese who came on for Isco and Mayoral in the second half grabbed the sixth and seventh goals of the night as a team scored seven against Celta Vigo for the first time since 1959.

All in all, Zinedine Zidane will be pleased with his team's performance as they dominated Celta completely to get one of their biggest wins in the La Liga
