The Amateur League: Crystal Ball Gameweek 4 Division 2

Action from Athlos United v FC Brunton

Games for GW 4 are spread across two days – Nov 26 and Nov 27. The pick of the matches sees Kudlu take on Titans, while Al-Fateh and Athlos United can't afford to lose any more points.

November 26

8:00 AM: FC Kudlu v Titans FC

The first game of the weekend features Kudlu and Titans. Kudlu are coming off a win against Diablos and they will be looking at setting their sights further if they can get anything against the table toppers. The Titans have flexed their muscles from the beginning of the season when they humbled Rebels, and although they didn’t put in their best performance last week, they still managed to pick up a win. It should be a close game but Titans do go in as favourites.

Players to watch: Jencil Saj (FC Kudlu); Rakesh Reddy (Titans FC)

Crystal Ball: FC Kudlu (1) – (2) Titans FC

3:30 PM - C2 FC v BFE United

The next game has title contender C2 FC taking on bottom dwellers BFE United. C2 FC are coming off an impressive win against Al-Fateh and now sit in pole position for the title – albeit there being a long way to go – with games against all their title contenders out of the way. BFE United have improved by the game but still need to find the right balance on the pitch, having conceded 5 goals in the last quarter of last week’s game against Rebels. C2 will be looking to improve their goal difference this game but we expect BFE to throw in a few surprises.

Players to watch: Louis Anthony (C2 FC) ; Abhijeet Negi (BFE United)

Crystal Ball: C2 FC (3) – (1) BFE United

6:30 PM – Rebels FC v FC Sparta

Next up, the Rebels take on Sparta in what should be a high-scoring affair. Rebels hit five past BFE last week but will face a sterner test against the Spartan defence. Sparta have thrown away two-goal leads twice already this season, losing against both Brunton and Garden Boys, something they will not be looking to repeat. Both teams have good attacks and the defence that can hold out the opposition’s attack might determine the result.

Players to watch: Elizer Bareh (Rebels FC), Sushanth Gopalkrishna (FC Sparta)

Crystal Ball: Rebels FC (3) – (3) FC Sparta

27 November

8:00 AM – FC Brunton v Emdee Al-Fateh

Brunton take on Al-Fateh in the first game on November 27. Both teams are coming off miserable losses and will be looking to get back to winning ways. Al-Fateh lost an important step in the right direction when they lost to C2 FC last weekend and cannot afford to drop any more points if they are to keep their title hopes intact. Brunton need to sort out their on-field behaviour if they are to get anything from this game.

Players to watch: Karun Sondhi (FC Brunton); Nikhildas KB (Emdee Al-Fateh)

Crystal Ball: FC Brunton (1) – (3) Emdee Al-Fateh

11:00 AM – Diablos FC v Garden Boys FC

Next up, Diablos taken on Garden Boys, with the former desperately in need of a win. Garden Boys came back from 2 goals down last game against Sparta to complete a miraculous comeback in the final ten minutes of the game and will be setting their sights on another win. Diablos need to change things up on the tactics board if they are to pick up results; another loss could mean doom for their top 3 finish hopes.

Players to watch: Tony Lobo (Diablos FC), Madhu Thammaiah (Garden Boys FC)

Crystal Ball: Diablos FC (3) – (2) Garden Boys FC

6:30 PM – Athlos United v Mercurial FC

Athlos take on Mercurial in the final game of GW 4 for Division 2. Athlos were efficient in their dismantling of Brunton next week and will be looking to pick back-to-back wins to get things going for their campaign. Mercurial played well last week against Titans and almost came away with a point but succumbed in the end. Both teams are good defensively and we expect a low-scoring game that could be decided by a solitary goal.

Players to watch: Nithin KG (Athlos United), Bennet M (Mercurial FC)

Crystal Ball: Athlos United (1) – (0) Mercurial FC
