Dani Alves suggests Cristiano Ronaldo to deal with criticism coming his way

Dani Alves (L) believes Cristiano Ronaldo (R) hogs the limelight too much for his own good

Barcelona full-back has suggested Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo to deal with the criticism coming his way, as per the reports on Marca. Alves believes the three-time Ballon d’Or winner hogs the limelight too much for his own good.

The Portugal captain, who’s regarded Los Blancos’ most prized asset, was given a lot of stick by the Santiago Bernabeu faithful during their 4-0 loss to the Spanish Champions on Saturday night. Thus, piling more pressure on Ronaldo and with such treatment, it has heightened speculation about his future with the club.

However, the Brazil international has refused to offer any sympathy to the Blaugrana side’s fiercest rivals, suggesting criticism comes with the territory for big-name players such as the former Manchester United star.

“I continue to see Cristiano as top quality player,” Alves said in an interview.

“But maybe the problem is that he has too much personality, he is too much the protagonist.”

“When you are too much the protagonist, they always talk about you.”

“But when you lose, you have to eat it, they focus on you and it is all your fault. But I don't really care what they do or don't do.”

Alves urges his teammates to continue with their fine form

Alves was part of the Barca side who humiliated the Galacticos on their own home turf. Goals from Neymar, Iniesta and a double from Luis Suarez was enough to send them to the top of La Liga table with a four point lead over Atletico Madrid.

However, the former Sevilla right-back has played down the result and has warned his not to be become complacent because of it.

“In my career I have learned that victories make you weak,” Alves said.

“They make you believe and think things that aren't true. It is great to have the three points, but the goal is still at the end of the season.”

“If you don't win the titles you end up just looking silly.”

“We did everything better, writing the page for a sensational match. We left our opponent with no options.”

“The 6-2 [Clasico victory for Barca in 2009] was one with lots of back and forth, an exchange of hits.”

“But this was more controlled and that is why we are so pleased. What we want is for our fans to enjoy it and I think we did that.”

Alves further added: “When we got the third goal we wanted the fourth and so on. We learned this with Pep Guardiola and what it means is that we are showing respect for our opponent by not easing up. That is how you show respect for your opponent.”
