Darren Fletcher Hopes For The Best

Manchester United FC v SL Benfica - UEFA Champions League

Darren Fletcher has begun taking the first steps of recovery from his chronic bowel complaint.

According to Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United are happy to be patient with Darren Fletcher as he recovers from a bowel condition. The Edinburgh born midfielder has not played a first team game for The Manchester Reds since November 2011 and could be offered another role at the Old Trafford club if he should fail to recover.

Darren Fletcher said, “Me and the medical team decided it would be best if I tried to get myself right and take an extended period out from the game; then come back fully fit and ready to play. It’s an unpredictable illness and you don’t know what lies ahead of you. But I have got to keep staying strong and keep believing. That is an important side of it: Positive thinking. I have received great support from everyone back in Scotland and down in Manchester. I am hopeful and really positive that I will be back to my best.”
