David, Romeo and Cruz Beckham covered in Golden slime

David Beckham and his sons Romeo and Cruz were in for a golden surprise as they were subject to a prank by Nickelodeon during an awards ceremony. The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan star was due to receive the legend awards at Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports Awards at the Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, California. Just after receiving the award, the Beckhams were subjected to high pressure jet-streams of golden goo from both sides for about five seconds as the audience cheered on.

Thankfully, the retired football superstar saw the funny side of it and laughed it off. Sliming at the awards function is nothing new as celebrities ranging from Will Smith, Mark Wahlberg, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Jack Black having experienced it. What was different about this was the colour. While green has been the choice colour for years, the Beckhams were the first to experience Golden slime.

Sons, 11-year-old Romeo and 9-year-old Cruz, who had accompanied the global icon on stage were not as amused as their father. Moments later the two kids were seen wiping their faces with the help from their father with towels provided by a backstage helper.

The OBE (Order of the British Empire) medal holder has two other kids- 15-year-old son Brooklyn and 3-year-old daughter Harper who did not accompany him to the event.
