David Beckham has apparently said he wants Roberto Carlos to become the head coach of his MLS team. Beckham’s project is scheduled for a launch in 2018 but his first priority is to find a coach for his team.
And according to AS he wants his former Real Madrid teammate to join him in the United States. The former Manchester United midfielder wants to plan for the future together with the coach to ensure everything runs smoothly until 2018.
Roberto Carlos has been earning his coaching badges
Roberto Carlos has been gaining experience in coaching over the last few years. The legendary full-back has had coaching stints in Russia, Turkey and India and has a good relationship with David Beckham.
The Brazilian started his coaching career in Russia with Anzhi Makhachkala and spent a brief period as interim manager but resigned soon after. He spent the next two years coaching in Turkey with stints at Sivaspor and Akhisar Belediyespor.
In 2015, Carlos took the head coach role of Indian Super League team Delhi Dynamos. He was close to joining Qatari side Al-Arabi but due to a breakdown in contract talks the move did not go through.
Carlos interested in working with Beckham
Carlos is seemed to have told Beckham that he is interested in partnering up with him in the US but has also been reportedly contacted by Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez to help coach the youth system at the club.
Carlos though is not very keen on returning to his former club and is making efforts to cool talks over the move with the Real Madrid Chief. David Beckham has had a long and successful playing career working under some of the greatest managers of the game.
He has worked with Sir Alex Ferguson for a long period of time and would have definitely picked up several tips from the Scotsman. He also had the opportunity to work with Fabio Capello at Real Madrid and also the English national side.
If Carlos and Beckham do link up it should be a perfect match since the two have worked together before and shared a good relationship during their time at Madrid. It will be wonderful to see the two legends working together once again.
