Real Madrid’s long pursuit of David de Gea took a blow when both clubs failed to get necessary documents sent through in time before the end of transfer window. Both clubs reached an agreement which included £29 million plus Keylor Navas in the De Gea deal. Club president Florentino Perez apparently made an offer to pay €10 million compensation to the Spanish goalkeeper if the deal could not be done before the transfer window shuts, AS reported.

There was late night drama in Spain when the documents needed to complete De Gea’s deal was sent purposely after the Spanish deadline had passed, claimed Real Madrid, according to AS. As it stands the ongoing, David De Gea saga continues and Real Madrid will be looking to sign the goalkeeper when his contract expires at Old Trafford. Madrid fans all over the world would be gutted to not have captured their top target who was linked with the club all summer.

David de Gea hasn’t played a single match for the Red Devils since the start of their new campaign, but Louis van Gaal will be looking to put the Spanish goalkeeper back into the side. He was arguably United’s best player last season and the best goalkeeper in the league.

It is also being said that the fact that De Gea refused a new deal with the Old Trafford club that would have made him one of the top earners at the club, is also one reason why Real are offering him this signing on amount.

Although his spot has been claimed by Sergio Romero who has spurred mixed opinions among the United supporters since his arrival, De Gea will be looking to reclaim his spot and go back to being the number one goalkeeper at Old Trafford for the upcoming season at least.

Whether Florentino Perez lives up to the purported promise is what remains to be seen. Another factor now is the January transfer window and the chance that another European giant could now begin to lure the Spaniard away from a move to the Bernabeu as a free agent next summer. If another club came calling with an offer in January, United may be inclined to sell as De Gea will be out of a contract come next summer.

Costa Rican keeper Keylor Navas turned up at Valdebebas following the collapse in his transfer to Manchester United at the last minute which was a part of the De Gea deal, according to AS. Navas is set to join up with his national team to play a friendly against Brazil on Saturday.

The Costa Rican arrived and met Rafael Benitez at the Madrid’s training complex.
