Andone has scored five goals this season

Deportivo La Coruna’s Florin Andone is a striker who is more effective at converting chances than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, according to statistics. Andone is finally repaying the faith shown in him by manager Gaizka Garitano.

The statistics show that Andone has 32 shots on target so far in the season, which is the 4th best tally in La Liga behind the top three of Ronaldo (57), Messi (37) and Bale (35). However, he leads in the conversion rate at 62.5%, far ahead of Messi (56.8%) and Ronaldo (47.4%).

He currently averages 2.9 shots per game overall and 3.3 in La Liga and looks all set to reach the figures he set last season at Cordoba where he scored 21 goals for the club, just one goal short of becoming the top scorer in the Segunda division. He lost out to Elche's Sergio León who won the award after scoring 22 goals.

The 23-year-old Romanian striker Andone, well known for his combative nature, has now scored in each of his team’s last four games. Against Real Sociedad on Monday night, he scored two and set up one and could’ve probably got two more as Deportivo beat Sociedad 5-1.

He began his run, opening his account against Granada in Gameweek 11 in the La Liga and scored against Sevilla and Malaga as well. He is now Deportivo’s top scorer on 5 goals while Ryan Babel is second on 3.

At his current rate of goals scored per game, he could go on to beat Deportivo’s club record of scoring in seven consecutive games, a record which is held jointly by Lucas Perez and Bebeto.

However, he will face a stern test in Deportivo La Coruña’s next game which is against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night. The number 10 will be looking to continue his goal scoring run against the Los Blancos and help his side climb further ahead in the table after a bad start.

Deportivo are 16th in La Liga after 14 games on 13 points, 1 point ahead of Valencia and the relegation zone. If the Romanian goes on to score freely, as he is currently, he might help his club avoid relegation this season and could perhaps secure a move to a bigger club in La Liga or any of Europe’s top leagues.
