Chelsea legend Didier Drogba believes his former club’s biggest rivals Arsenal will win the Premier League this season, as per Sky Sports. Drogba has backed the Gunners to claim the title simply because of his former Blues teammate Petr Cech’s presence in goal.

Arsene Wenger’s side have slumped to shocking defeats, starting from the season opener against West Ham, where they were humiliated in front of their home fans. Last week, they suffered their third defeat of the season against West Bromwich Albion. But despite that, the North London club are just two points off Leicester City at the Premier League summit.

On the other hand, their progression to the Champions League knockout stages looked bleak following upsets against Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb during the early stages of the competition. Only a 2-0 victory at Athens will ensure their progression to the competition’s Round of 16.

But former Chelsea striker Drogba, believes Wenger and his men are in pole position to claim the first Premier League title since the Invincibles of 2004 due to the presence of his former teammate Cech in goal. But he insists Manchester City will be giving them a fight till the end.

“I think Manchester City will be as strong as they have been in the last few years,” the Ivorian said.

“Unfortunately, Chelsea are too far [behind in the title race], so I will go for my friend Petr Cech at Arsenal.”

When asked if they had enough to win the league, Drogba simply replied: “They have got Petr Cech.”

Chelsea can turn their season around: Drogba

Meanwhile, the Ivorian striker’s former club have endured a difficult start to the season, languishing in 15th place in the league. After losing seven games, the reigning English champions find themselves in a very unfamiliar position.

However, the Blues have enjoyed back-to-back victories over Norwich City in the league and Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the Champions League. And Drogba believes they can use these victories to boost their confidence and remains confident that their season will turn around soon.

“It's a different situation for club, manager and players,” added Drogba. “When you have won the league the season before and you find yourselves in the last three or four teams in the table after four or five games, it is a shock.”

“I know the players and the manager have the ability to change this. They have won two consecutive games in the last two days, so I think it is kind of a new start.”
