Didier Drogba: It is going to be difficult for Lampard to play against Chelsea

Drogba: I can’t wait to see my partner-in-crime

Didier Drogba believes that will be difficult for Frank Lampard to face Chelsea as his new side Manchester City host the Londoners this weekend. Lampard who has joined Manchester City on loan from New York City FC, will face Chelsea for the first time after having been released by the club last summer.

Drogba, who enjoyed 8 years playing along side Lampard during his first spell at Chelsea believes the supporters will respect the English midfielder for his contribution at the club.

“The supporters know what he gave for the club,” Drogba said. “So I know, for sure, the reaction will be good. It doesn’t matter what team he is playing for now, he belongs to us. He is a Chelsea player. For what he did. He’s part of the history of this club.

“I can’t wait to see him, to see my partner-in-crime. It’s a pity that I’ve come back and he’s not here any more. But I know for sure I will be happy to see him again.“

Drogba made his first start for Chelsea in his second spell at the club against Schalke during the Champions League midweek that saw the Blues only manage to draw at home.

Lampard on the other hand, started his first game for City last weekend in a 2-2 draw against Arsenal.

Drogba also praised Diego Costa for a sensational start to his Chelsea career having already scored 7 goals so far in the Premier League.

“He is very good,” Drogba said. “For him to start the season in England, coming from Spain, which is a very different league and to recreate the same thing he was doing at Atlético, is fantastic. He’s enjoying playing here and being with us, and that’s the best feeling he could have. He’s the striker we needed this season. I can see his desire to win every challenge and to score goals. He’s hungry for goals and that’s the best thing for a team like us.”
