Former Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has reportedly torn his hamstring and could be out for up to three months.

The 25-year-old made a brilliant start to his Chelsea career scoring in each of his first two Premier League matches. Details have no been released but it is understood that the striker got injured in training. This will come as a blow to the club which sold Belgian youngster Romelu Lukaku to Everton and released Samuel Eto’o before the beginning of the season.

36-year-old Didier Drogba and misfit Fernando Torres are the other two forwards in the squad.

Other reports suggest that he could be back within 6 weeks, but that period is still long enough to hurt Chelsea in the title race for which they are strong favourites.
