Robin van Persie’s Manchester United contract expires next year

Manchester United’s Robin van Persie claims he does not know where his future lies. The striker has 18 months to go on his current contract after he signed a four-year deal in the summer of 2012.

After a prolific first season, the Dutch international has failed to deliver and has only scored 8 goals in 20 Premier League appearances this season. He did state early last year that he wanted to extend his deal, but he will be 33 years old when his contract expires in the summer of 2016.

Van Persie said: “It is not up to me. For the moment I am staying here for 18 months.

“That is it really. I can't look into the future. I don't know what is going to happen after that.

“We shall have to wait and see,” he concluded.

Not happy with my performances this season: Van Persie

Van Persie also touched upon his own form and the performances of the squad in general. The Red Devils are currently fourth in the EPL table but failed to get past League Two side Cambridge United in the FA Cup.

“Obviously we are not scoring enough goals, including me,” Van Persie said.

“Everyone feels responsible. I do, definitely.

“This year I have played something like 20 games and I have scored eight goals. I am not happy with that.

“I want to score more. I will do everything, every day in training and during the games I will keep doing what I have been doing for the last 10 years to make those goals. It makes so many people happy, including me.”
