East Bengal to face Mumbai today - Morgan loses hope of winning I-League

East Bengal coach Trevor James Morgan has lost hope of winning the I-League as he stated yesterday that if they have to win the league, then apart from winning most of the remaining matches, they have to rely on other top teams in the I-league, like Churchill Brothers, Pune FC and Dempo to lose points.

After losing to ONGC in the Ambedkar stadium, East Bengal is now in the 3rd spot in the league table with 27 points from 13 matches. If they won that match, then they will be in the 2nd position in the league table. After yesterday’s practice session at the club ground, East Bengal British coach told, “It’s not like that we played bad and lost in the Ambedkar stadium. We should have scored three goals before half time. But it did not happen. We are frustrated!”

Today, East Bengal is going to play against Khalid Jamil’s Mumbai FC. It is a must win match for the Kolkata giant. Mumbai FC has beaten the Red & Gold Brigade in their home match by a 2-1 scoreline. Former East Bengal forward Yusuf Yakubu, now playing for Mumbai FC, tormented East Bengal defence as East Bengal defenders Raju Gaikwad and Arnab Mondal were quite uncomfortable against this veteran Ghana player. Mumbai coach Khalid Jamil is very much confident about his boys and winning three points from their away match. “We have beaten East Bengal in our home match. I hope we will back home after getting three points from here.” He added.

Meanwhile, despite missing a couple of easy chances in their last last match, East Bengal coach still has faith on Robin Singh. Edeh Chidi is taking most of the work-load in the East Bengal’s attack. Since a couple of games, East Bengal’s superior mid-field is also not clicking well. As per the latest report, Morgan is going to change one player in the mid-field. Kevin Lobo might enter in the starting XI in place of Ishfaq Ahmed.
