English football club rocked by drug scandal; police investigations ongoing

English Football has been rocked by a drug scandal as a “major club” is right at the centre of it

In what comes as a shocking revelation, a top English football club is believed to have been rocked by a drugs scandal with the police authorities in England investigating the issue.

The issue came to light after some of the senior officials of the club asked the police to look into it as they suspected that some of their colleagues were using class-A drugs inside the stadium on a consistent basis. It is believed that a popular figure in football is one of the key perpetrators and the top officials at the club are involved in it too.

The biggest shock comes with allegations of one of the board members of the club in question being caught snorting cocaine in the boardroom of a rival club just hours before an away fixture. The officials of the league which the club is a part of, as well as the other teams in the league have apparently been made aware of the investigations.

Some officials at the club though believe that it is not a one-off incident and that the problem is a bigger one. It is believed that a member of the club’s hierarchy noticed residues of white powder on the clothing of a colleague as he sat down during a home game.

Although the club has not been named explicitly due to impending investigations, a source at the club has confirmed that the case was looked into “following allegations that hard drugs were being consumed by certain people on the premises”.

He added: “The police have been informed, as have the relevant league, so it is now a matter for the police to find out if there is a case to answer.”
