English sides Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all managed narrow wins in their pre-season warm-up matches, as they continue their preparations for the Premier League starting next month.

Chelsea fought back from 2 goals down to beat AFC Wimbledon, 3-2. An early opener through Alan Bernett and Mathew Tubbs' penalty put the second tier outfit 2-0 up before the break. However, the West Londoners scored deep in the second half, with a brace from John Terry on either side of Salah's equaliser saving the Blues from the blushes.

Elsewhere in Meadow Park, their neighbouring rivals Arsenal grabbed late goals to sink local side Boreham Wood, 2-0. Boasting an intriguing amalgamation of experience and newbies, the Gunners left it late as they found the breakthrough only in the 70th minute through a Kristoffer Olsson strike before young striker Benike Afobe rounded-off the scoring from the penalty spot.

Last season's EPL runners-up Liverpool overcame their opening game defeat by edging past Preston 2-1 in a nervy encounter. The League One side went ahead at the stroke of half-time through Josh Brownhill's close range effort but the North End outfit failed to protect the lead as Kris Peterson scored within 5 minutes of Suso's 15 yard stunner, to turn the tables on the minnows, with only 15 minutes left for the final whistle.
