After Arsenal beat FA Cup finalists Hull City 3-2 last night, Arsenal fans weren’t the only ones celebrating.

The result meant that Everton, who finished fifth – five points behind Champions League spots, will not have to compete in a qualifier to play in the 2014/15 Europa League.

The group stage draw is scheduled to take place on August 29th and Everton will be happy to know that their club will be in one of the pots and will not have to play extra games.

Had Hull City won the FA Cup, Everton would have had to play in the fourth qualifying round to get into the group stage.

Everton are however not assured of being on the seeded side of the draw since third placed teams eliminated from Champions League group stages also get a direct entry into the Europa League.
