Cesc Fabregas has been a revelation at Chelsea ever since he signed from Barcelona back in the summer. Considering he said he would never sign for another Premier League team after Arsenal, everything changed once he spoke to Jose Mourinho.
Looking from the outside in at Barcelona, you had the impression that Fabregas never really fitted in. We had all been used to seeing what he had done with Arsenal, the influence he had on games and with the likes of Iniesta, Xavi and Messi around at he Nou Camp, it never seemed to work out.
It was a total surprise when we first heard that there was contact between Chelsea and the player and the fact we managed to sign him could prove to be the best transfer business of the summer!
I didn’t feel as important at Barcelona: Fabregas
Speaking to Chelsea's Magazine, Fabregas revealed that Jose Mourinho made him feel important again and it shows on that pitch week in, week out. He said:"Of course when Jose Mourinho came in, it was a big chance for me.”
I had a really good time at Barcelona, but I wanted to feel the way I'm feeling now - someone who can really give something positive to the team and feel that I am important.
This is a big thing for me and when I spoke to the boss [about the transfer], he made me feel all those things and told me what I wanted to hear, what I needed to hear."
Dropping Fabregas deeper, next to Matic has worked wonders and he has eleven Premier League assists already this season. You only have to look at the amount of times he touches the ball and where he does, to see his influence. Everything good from Chelsea going forward comes through him.
You look at the way he plays and it seems as though he has been here for years, he does the simple things when he needs to but, at the same time, he can play that final ball we had been lacking so much in recent times.
Cesc Fabregas has every right to feel important at Chelsea. It's because he is!
