Rumour: Fernando Torres refuses to quit Chelsea despite Jose Mourinho telling him he is not part of his plans

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is refusing to quit Chelsea this summer, despite Diego Costa’s impending arrival and Jose Mourinho telling him he is not part of his plans.

The Spanish striker has been a failure at Stamford Bridge since joining the west London-based side in January 2011 for £50 million. He has failed to replicate the form he showed at previous club Liverpool and it was thought that this summer may finally prove the end of his nightmare spell at the Blues.

Torres has been linked with a switch to Inter Milan, but he seems eager to prove himself at Stamford Bridge, according to Goal.

The 30-year-old has two years remaining on his £160,000-a-week contact and he knows that he will not be offered that sort of money elsewhere.

With the impending arrival of Diego Costa, it was thought Torres would not like to play second fiddle to his Spain international team-mate. Jose Mourinho has also made it clear to Torres that he does not feature in his plans next season, but Torres is not ready to move away.

The Spanish forward is reportedly happy in London with his family and will not reduce his wages elsewhere.Torres had a conversion rate of 13.5% last season in the Premier League.
