For years, Lionel Messi graced the cover of EA SPORTS FIFA franchise as the game became one of the best-selling games in the industry. But in January this year it became apparent that the contract with the Barcelona star would not be renewed.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar are already out of the picture as they are contracted to Pro Evolution Soccer – FIFA’s biggest competitor from EA’s rivals Konami. So who will feature on the cover of FIFA 17?

EA SPORTS short-listed four candidates. Real Madrid’s Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez, Manchester United’s French striker Anthony Martial, Chelsea’s Belgian winger Eden Hazard and Borussia Dortmund’s German forward Marco Reus are all in contention.

And the fans will decide!

Fans can visit the EA SPORTS website and vote for the player of their choice to feature on the FIFA 17 cover. There is no registration required; all one has to do is pick a player and they are done.

“James, Martial, Hazard, and Reus represent exciting, attacking football and epitomize the innovative play that fans can expect in FIFA 17,” said Nick Channon, Senior Producer for EA SPORTS FIFA.

“We’re excited to see fans rally around their favorite players and see who they select as the cover star for the franchise and the footballer who will represent FIFA 17 globally.”

Who will you pick?

FIFA 17 will available in North America on 27 September 27 and worldwide on 29 September. FIFA 17 also has an all-new Journey Mode. You can watch the reveal trailer here.
