Florent Malouda joins Delhi Dynamos for the second edition of the Indian Super League

Malouda will team up with Carlos in Delhi

Delhi Dynamos have signed former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda to feature in the second season of ISL. Delhi are looking to win the title this year with them spending money to toughen up the team drastically. He was last seen playing for Metz which was a part of Ligue 2.

Malouda was part of the dominant Lyon team in 2003, that had stars like Juninho, Michael Essien, Gregory Coupet, and Mahamadou Diarra. He established himself as a left winger and was an integral part of the team that won four Ligue 1 titles in a row between 2003-2007.

In 2007, the Frenchman attracted the attention of English giants Chelsea where he teamed up with his former teammate Didier Drogba again. It was in Stamford Bridge that his talent flourished. His performances for the London side saw him win Chelsea’s player of the Year in the 2009-2010.

In his six seasons with Chelsea, Malouda won everything there was to win in English football winning the FA Cup in 2009 and the league and Cup double a couple of years later. His greatest achievement in Chelsea, however, came in 2013 when he helped the club win the very first Champions League in their history.

Malouda has also played in a World Cup final

Along with club football, Malouda has made a massive 80 appearances for France and has scored 9 times for them with one of them in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, where the French side were able to reach the final.

Delhi will be hoping that the 35-year old can bring his flare to the Delhi team who already have players like legendary Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos. They have also retained Hans Mulder and Gustavo Marmentini for the second edition of the ISL.

Having already spent a huge amount of money in the ISL auction signing Robin Singh and Anas Edathodika, Delhi are looking active in the transfer market with various outlets linking them to the Scandinavian duo of John Arne Riise and Anders Svensson .

Carlos will also be acting as the head coach for the Dynamos this season along with his role as marquee player.

Delhi announced the signing through their official twitter account and the transfer was announced to the world on live television in the build up of the West Brom-Chelsea game in the Barclays Premier League due to the link between the midlands club and Delhi:
