Former Chelsea legend Frank Lampard selected Player of the month by Manchester City fans

Former Chelsea leged Frank Lampard has been voted player for the month by Manchester City fans

Former Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has been voted the Etihad Player of the Month for September by the Manchester City fans. The 36-year-old had a fabulous September, as he scored goals against Chelsea, Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City. His impressive football, professionalism and commitment for the Sky Blues has not gone unnoticed and has won the hearts of the Manchester City faithful.

His return to Premier League football has been quite good, and has helped him cement his reputation as a Premier League legend. Manchester City announced on their website that Frank Lampard beat England teammate James Milner and Spain midfielder David Silva to get the honour. What makes this achievement impressive is that the City faithful have taken to him so quickly, considering he was at Chelsea for so long.

Lampard clearly not done yet

Lampard justified Manchester City manager Mannuel Pellegrini’s unexpected move to bring him from New York City FC on a six month loan to Manchester City. The midfielder had left Chelsea to move to the USA after a fruitful spell which saw him win 13 trophies with the club.

Lampard impressed the Manchester City fans when he came out a substitute and hit the equaliser against his old club in September. He scored twice against Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup and also netted again in Manchester City’s 4-2 win at Hull City.

There is already speculation that he may join Manchester City’s affliate club New York City FC a month late and stay on in Manchester for an extra month. The award in his first month at the club is testament to his fitness and quality as one of the greatest Premier League midfielders and he has established himself as an integral part of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad already.
