Spanish club Las Palmas have confirmed the signing of Kevin-Prince Boateng from AC Milan on a one-year deal. The midfielder will be unveiled after he completes a medical this afternoon.

The highly decorated midfielder is the marquee signing Las Palmas fans were looking for and the former Portsmouth is expected to raise the ambitions of the football club. With the arrival of the flamboyant Ghanaian, the Spanish side who finished 11th last season are targeting a top 8 finish.

Close relationships with agent Federico Pastorello helped the Spanish outfit gain his signature amidst interest from Fenerbahce, Celta Vigo and Malaga. According to reports, Boateng has an option to extend the deal subject to his performances at the club.

Boateng has represented a number of top clubs in Europe including Tottenham Hotspur, Schalke 04 and AC Milan. His time at the Serie A was eventful if not productive. After joining Milan, he was sold to Schalke for €10 million.

Poor behaviour at the Bundesliga club though led to a suspension and subsequent termination of his contract. Rejoining AC Milan for free, Boateng failed to have any sort of impact at the Rossoneri. In just 11 appearances for the club, Prince scored just 1 goal and failed to complete 90 minutes in a single game.

Prince has represented Ghana in 2 World Cup competitions after being expelled from the German national team on account of his questionable attitude.

Despite his struggles, Boateng is considered to be a world class player. Known for his strength, quick feet and tricks, the former Bundesliga star also possesses a killer instinct in front of goal.

His flamboyance and ability on the ball is expected to provide a huge boost to a Las Palmas side that managed just 45 goals in last season’s La Liga campaign.

This will also be Boateng’s first season in Spain and the La Liga side will be hoping he can regain some of the form that made him one of the most feared midfielders in Europe. In an attempt to clear up his act and find some form, the Ghanaian has decided to end his holiday early and train with his new teammates in the pre-season.

The player will be unveiled at a special ceremony organised by the club at Estadio de Gran Canaria.
