France manager Didier Deschamps has responded to media criticism over the omission of Karim Benzema from the France national team, by saying that it was for the good of the whole squad.

The French media had clamoured for the return of the Real Madrid striker, and France Football had even gone with the headline, “Give Benzema another chance.” However, Deschamps did not bow down to media or fan pressure, saying:

“I take decisions which I consider to be for the good of the national team.”

Benzema was first left out of the French squad for his alleged involvement in a sex scandal, where the Real Madrid forward was accused of blackmailing French team-mate Mathieu Valbuena.

One of the extortionists, Mustapha Zouaoui, who has already accepted his involvement in the crime, recently told French newspaper L’Equipe that Benzema was innocent and just a collateral victim of the scam which rocked French football.

Zinedine Zidane interested in signing talented Swedish striker Alexander Isak

Real Madrid have always been interested in the brightest young talents across the world and according to reports from Swedish daily Aftonbladet, Los Blancos have sent representatives and scouts to keep an eye on Sweden’s new sensation, 17-year-old AIK striker Alexander Isak.

The Swedish striker has been likened to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and already has an impressive physique for someone so young. Blessed with good finishing, pace, first touch and dribbling skills, Isak is one of the most wanted youngsters in world football right now.

The agent of the 17-year old has already admitted of interest from top clubs across Europe like Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid but although Isak has already scored 6 league goals in the Swedish Allsvenskan league his agent spoke about him staying in Sweden for a couple of more years and developing his game.

Isak is capable of playing anywhere across the forward line and his versatility has impressed Real Madrid scouts who are keen to sign him.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid head into the weekend after three consecutive draws and they will be desperate for a win against Eibar. Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema are all finally fully fit and they will be looking to fire on all cylinders and guide Real Madrid to an easy win over the Spanish minnows.

The race for the La Liga title is already wearing a familiar look. After 6 games, Real Madrid are on top with 14 points, while Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are 2nd and 3rd with 13 and 12 points respectively.
