Frank Lampard leaves Chelsea after 13 season at Stamford Bridge

Frank Lampard looks set to jet into the US to join MLS side New York City, according to reports.

The former Chelsea midfielder will be leaving the Blues after spending 13 seasons at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues didn’t offer the 36 year-old a new deal after his current deal came to an end at the end of last season.

In his thirteen years at the club, the English midfielder has won every medal that there was to be won, winning three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa League and four FA Cups.

During his time at the Bridge, Lampard scored 211 goals for Chelsea; in the process, becoming Chelsea’s highest ever goal-scorer, beating the record set by Bobby Tambling at 203. A remarkable feat considering Lampard was a midfielder.

Lampard, who will be the second big signing for MLS debutants New York City, also has 106 caps English caps to his name.

New York City is owned by Manchester City owner Sheikh Mohammed Mansour and part of a City Football Group stable of clubs which also includes the Australia side Melbourne City and Japanese outfit Yokohama F Marinos.

Lampard will join David Villa in the New York team, but with the MLS side not kicking off their their campaign till March 2015, Lampard is set to play for Melbourne City in the A-League on a short-term deal.
