The French Football Association would like to hire Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to coach the national team before and during the 2016 European Championships on home soil.

It has always been in Wenger’s dreams to one day manage his country but he faces an enormous dilemma whether to leave Arsenal or not.

While managing France has always been an ambition, Wenger has given assurances to the Gunners that he will stay beyond this season despite not having signed a new deal yet.

His current contract expires in the summer so some around the club are slightly worried that he will not agree to a new deal, despite negotiating with plenty of the squad’s core players to stay on themselves.

Should Wenger leave Arsenal and end his long stay, former captain Patrick Vieira has been mentioned as part of a possible coaching team after impressing as the head coach of Manchester City’s Under-21 side, according to People Sport.

One option being explored is the appointment of a director of football to work with Vieira as head coach, allowing the former midfielder to take a role alongside an experienced figure.

The French would ideally want Wenger in the job as soon as this summer’s World Cup is over to give him time to shape their Euro 2016 campaign.
