Ex-Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is in negotiations with Galatasaray about taking over the reigns of the club from the axed Fatih Terim. BBC Sport reports.

The Turkish champions announced on their official account on social networking site twitter that Mancini attended a meeting with the club directors and also tweeted a photo the clubs Chief Executive Lufi Aribogan with the Italian.

The Premier League winning coach is seen as a potential replacement to Faith Terim, who was shown the door by the club after declining to sign a new deal.

Mancini was sacked by City one year after their Premier League triumph due to a poor title defense and a lacklustre performance on the European stage. Galarasaray have failed to recreate the magic of last season and have lost all but one game this season.

Real Madrid thrashed them 6-1 in the opening Champions League group game. They are set to play Juventus and FC Copenhagen in the further stages of the competition.

Terim has had a glittering career with Galatasaray both as a player and a manager. The club won six Super Lig trophies under Terim’s reign.

Mancini brought success back to City, who won the FA Cup and the Premier League with the Italian at the helm.
