Real Madrid president Florentino Perez: Gareth Bale is not for sale at any price

Gareth Bale has been linked with a move to Manchester United

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reiterated that Welsh forward Gareth Bale is not up for sale this summer. There have been reports of Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal wanting to sign on the 25-year-old forward in exchange for goalkeeper David de Gea, but the 68-year-old businessman has stated that Bale is going nowhere and is an important part of the club 's future.

“We would never listen to any offers for Bale no matter what the bid was,” Perez told Spanish publication Marca.

“He is the key to the club's future, just like I cannot imagine a future without Cristiano Ronaldo. He is a unique player who has already given so much to the team,” he added.

The Welshman was brought by the Los Blancos on a six-year deal for an undisclosed sum in 2013 and scored 22 goals in 44 games in his maiden season and was also part of the team that won the Champions League last year.

However, the current season hasn't quite gone as well as he would’ve liked with him having smashed the back-of-the-net on just 16 occasions in 39 matches, across all competitions.
