World’s most expensive player, Gareth Bale has reportedly commissioned for a golf course to be built in the back garden of his home in Wales. In an exclusive interview with the Daily Express, Bale has revealed his passion for Golf.

The Real Madrid ace who makes £15 million a year, is a keen golfer and has now decided to build a three-hole course in the back garden of his Vale of Glamorgan home which will be modelled on the Postage Stamp at Troon, the Amen Corner 11th at Augusta and the 17th hole at Sawgrass.

There is nothing new about a celebrity looking to the golf course as a respite from the demands of public life, but Bale is certainly taking it a step further!

“I try to play as much golf as possible,” Bale said.

“In fact, I’m obsessed with it. I’ve not really thought about what I’ll be doing in 20 years when I’m retired from football, but, hopefully, I will be playing golf.”

When in Wales, Bale frequently visits the Celtic Manor Resort just for golfing. He also revealed a craving for chocolate when he is back in Spain.”

“Every time I come home, I go back with bags of the stuff. Galaxy, Dairy Milk – anything. I also miss PG Tips tea bags,” said Bale.”

“Home is always Wales. Always. But I’m feeling more and more comfortable in Madrid.”

“I know British players previously have struggled to adapt to live in another country, but I feel like I’ve grown up since I came over.”

“I took myself out of my comfort zone and, yes, I do think it has improved me as a player because I have learned a completely different style of football.”

Bale reveals his favourite position

Bale received a lot of flack along with his teammates from the Madridistas, after the crushing 4-0 defeat at home to arch-rivals Barcelona. The 26-year-old who played out wide in the game and produced a dismal performance, has now expressed his desire to play in a more central role.

Notably, when the Welsh star played as a no.10 for the club at the start of the season, Real Madrid scored 15 goals in 3 wins and a draw.

“Rafa and I had conversations at the start of the season,” Bale told the Daily Express.

“Obviously he’s seen me playing for Tottenham. We didn’t have that middle free role in the last system with Carlo Ancelotti, but this year the system suits my style of play, and where I want to play.

“I feel like that’s my position. In my last season at Tottenham, I played in the middle more. From then, and for Wales, I’ve been playing in the centre.”

“It means I can drift into areas, find the space, and when I get the ball I can attack. It’s my best position, and when I’m fit, it’ll be a great season.”
